Wiesental is a residential area belonging to the Bretzfeld district of Adolzfurt in Hohenlohekreis in northern Baden-Württemberg . The place goes back to a historic hammer forge.

geography

Wiesental is located about one kilometer southeast of Adolzfurt in the Brettach valley at the confluence of the Bernbach, on the 1090 highway from Adolzfurt to Unterheimbach .

history

In 1717 a hammer forge was built in Wiesental, which later came into the possession of the Blezinger family and went down in 1850. Already when Adolzfurt was raised to the status of an independent official place in 1809, the place originally only called Hammerschmiede was included in Adolzfurt. In 1864, the name of the surrounding valley was also used to designate the village, which consists of only one group of houses. In 1865 the former blacksmith's forge, along with an estate spread over various districts, was owned by Baron von Hügel, who set up a glucose and starch factory there. In 1886 the drop forge Julius Reitz & Co. was opened, which manufactured railway parts and special tools for saddlers and upholsterers and employed around 30 people around 1960. Around 1970 Wiesental had 24 inhabitants.
