Viktor Petrowytsch Bryukhanov ( Ukrainian Віктор Петрович Брюханов ; born December 15, 1935 in Tashkent ) was the construction manager of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and its director from 1970 to 1986 .

After the Chernobyl reactor accident , he was sentenced by a Russian court to ten years in a labor camp for serious violations of safety regulations and involvement in the explosion of the reactor core. Although he accepted that he had to represent the accident due to his professional position, he refused any direct responsibility.

Since 1992 he has lived in a suburb of Kiev .

In the series Chernobyl he is portrayed by the actor Con O'Neill.
