Viktor Petrovich Kravchuk ( Russian Виктор Петрович Кравчук ; born January 18, 1961 in the village of Palascher, Berezniki Raion , Perm region ) is a Russian Vice Admiral and was the commander of the Baltic Fleet .

Life

Kravchuk graduated from the Makarov Officers College of the Soviet Naval Fleet in Vladivostok in 1983 . He then served in the Pacific Fleet as a combat section commander for navigation (GA-1) on a guard ship and as the commander of a missile speedboat. In 1988, after completing advanced special courses for officers, he continued his service as chief of staff, commander of a missile speedboat division and commander of a missile speedboat brigade. The Naval War Academy NG Kuznetsov graduated from Kravchuk in 1997. From 1999 to 2000 he was employed as a deputy flotilla commander and chief of equipment and armament for the Caspian flotilla . In 2002 he successfully graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces in Moscow and served from 2002 to 2003 as Deputy Commander of the Caspian Flotilla. In 2004 he was appointed Rear Admiral by decree of the President of the Russian Federation. From 2003 to 2005 he worked as Chief of Staff and 1st Deputy Commander of the Caspian Flotilla. In 2005 he became the commander of the Caspian Flotilla. From December 2009, Kravchuk served as Vice Admiral Tschirkows and replaced him on September 14, 2012 as commander of the Baltic Fleet, after he had already taken over his duties in June 2012. On June 29, 2016, together with Chief of Staff Rear Admiral Sergei Popov, he was suspended from duty by Defense Minister Shoigu due to blatant deficiencies in the training of soldiers in the Baltic Fleet as well as continuous deliberate false reports to the Defense Ministry regarding operational readiness and technical clarity of the units.
