action

Police and paramedics are in front of Winthrop House. Paramedics take Eliot Howard, who has been injured by three cuts in the chest, to an ambulance. Sheriff Hatch thinks it's an animal attack. At the hospital, Howard has visions of Joshua Winthrop, the late owner of the house, warning him that the demon is still alive and must be destroyed. Randolph Carter rescued Joshua Winthrop's magic book from the house. Carter speaks to University Dean Thayer about the house. Thayer warns Carter not to meddle in things he would never understand. Carter seeks out Professor Warren, who promises to help him.

Carter, Warren and Howard visit the catacombs where the demon is hiding. While the injured Howard stays with the car, Warren and Carter encounter the demon trapped in the roots of a tree. Warren injects the creature with insulin, he wants the demon to leave the body of Alyda Winthrop, Joshua's daughter. The plan works, Alyda appears as a beautiful naked woman. But the insulin has also meant that the demon now has a new body that kills the professor. Carter, Howard and Alyda are able to escape to the campus.

The demon also reaches the university campus. In search of Alyda, the creature kills several students. Carter and Alyda flee to the library to find the missing pages of the magic book. Meanwhile, the sheriff is also convinced of the creature's deeds and follows with some officers and Howard. The policemen fall victim to the demon. Carter and Alyda find the pages they are looking for in the manuscript room. He can dispel the invading creature. Alyda, now completely freed from the influence of demons, ages rapidly and decays into a skeleton.
