Wilbrand Stael

Wilbrand Stael (* in the 15th century; † 1510 ) was canon in Münster .

Life

Wilbrand Stael was born as the son of the squire Rotger Stael zu Loburg († 1503) and his wife Agnes Schade zu Ihorst. He completed his studies in Cologne and Bologna and was first mentioned in documents in 1487 as the canon of Münster. Wilbrand was provost to St. Martini in Munster . When he in 1510 to Domscholaster , the head of the cathedral school was incumbent elected, he gave up the post of provost. Wilbrand remained the head of the cathedral school until his death. The canons Wilhelm Stael , Johann Stael and Dietrich Stael were his uncles.
