Wilhelm Stael

Wilhelm Stael (* in the 15th century; † May 3, 1535 in Warendorf ) was canon in Münster .

Life

Wilhelm Stael was born as the son of the squire Wilhelm Stael zu Sutthausen († 1483), who bought the Sutthausen estate in 1438 . His mother was Gertrud Baer. As the cathedral canon of Münster, he was first mentioned in a document on August 29, 1492. His uncles Johann and Dietrich were canons in Münster. His cousin Wilbrand Stael was also a canon from Münster. The sources do not provide any information about Wilhelm's further life. In his will of August 14, 1534, he not only considered his spiritual confreres and his family members, but also the monasteries of Klein-Burlo , Asbeck and the women's monastery in Coesfeld .
