Wulbrand from Hallermund

Wulbrand von Hallermund († December 23, 1436 ) was the last of the family from Hallermund . He was Abbot of Corvey from 1398 to 1406 and then Bishop of Minden until his death in 1436 .

Life

He was the son of Count Wilbrand and Count Otto V was his brother. He was involved in several feuds during his time as bishop. In the process, he suffered several scars. During his tenure in 1421, the Minden Marienstift was converted into a women's monastery. He was a Guelph partisan. In 1411 he sold the Hallermund property to Bernhard I (Braunschweig-Lüneburg) . That in turn was one of the reasons for the feud of 1420 between the Guelphs and the Count von Spiegelberg , who were related by marriage to the Hallermunders . a. lost their Everstein pawn in Ohsen . Wulbrand won back various castles and estates for the Minden monastery, including from the Counts of Lippe and Tecklenburg . He also waged war against the bishopric of Osnabrück for property rights . He was buried in Minden Cathedral. A statuette depicting him is in the museum.
