Wildgutach since 1974 a district of the municipality Simon forest in the district of Emmendingen in Baden-Württemberg . The scattered individual farms of the village are located in the narrow and winding valley of the Wild Gutach . Wildgutach has (as of 2015) 97 inhabitants.

The establishment of a reception center for refugees in the former Gasthof Löwen at the beginning of 2016 increased the population of the place by around 35 people.

history

The first settlers in 1592 were lumberjacks from Tyrol. In 1796 there were already 25 houses in Wildgutach. Until 1806 the community was a bailiwick of St. Peter. In 1848 the place had about 230 inhabitants; today only around 110 people live in Wildgutach.

The Wildgutacher schoolhouse was built in 1870. In 1951/52 the St. Hubertus Church was built; it was renovated in 1979 and 2007.

On January 1, 1974, Wildgutach, until then an independent municipality with a town hall and its own mayor, was incorporated into Simonswald.

Economy and tourism

With the Karl F. Wangler KG there was a sawmill in Wildgutach until the beginning of the 2000s .

With the Haldenschwarzhof, there has been only one tourist accommodation in Wildgutach since the Löwen inn closed .
