Wilfred E. Jacobs
Sir Wilfred Ebenezer Jacobs (born October 19, 1919 , † March 11, 1995 ) was an Antiguan politician and first and last governor and first governor general of Antigua and Barbuda .
biography
Jacobs became the first governor of Antigua and Barbuda on February 27, 1967. He held this office until November 1, 1981, when he became the first Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda after independence from the United Kingdom as a sovereign member state ( Commonwealth Realm ) within the Commonwealth of Nations .
On June 10, 1993 he was replaced as Governor General by James Carlisle .
In 1967 he was beaten to a Knight Bachelor degree . In 1977 he was inducted into the Royal Victorian Order as Knight Commander and into the Order of St Michael and St George as Knight Grand Cross in 1981. In 1985 he was raised to the Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order.
