Wilfried Stichmann

Wilfried Stichmann (born November 15, 1934 in Hamm ; † April 2, 2020 in Möhnesee ) was a professor of biology didactics at the Technical University of Dortmund . He lived in Möhnesee. He was best known for his diverse voluntary work after his retirement.

Life

After graduating from high school, he passed the first state examination at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster with the support of the German National Academic Foundation . It was there that he met his wife Ursula Stichmann-Marny († 2015), with whom he was married for 60 years. After the second state examination, he was soon appointed to a professorship at the University of Dortmund .

Stichmann had been a member of the NRW Foundation e. V., there member of the board of trustees and from 1994 to 2012 member of the board of the foundation.

He belonged to the Heimatverein Möhnesee, of which he became an honorary member. With the Ursula and Wilfried Stichmann Foundation, which he and his wife founded, he supported the ARCHEMED - Doctors for Children in Need e. V., the Hammer Forum e. V., the Jürgen Wahn Foundation e. V. and the Circle of Friends for the Catholic Forum Dortmund, exclusively to support the Pallottine Mission to promote street children in Howick (South Africa) through the Angels Care association.

In numerous publications he brought the local bird and plant world closer to the general public.

Honors

For his services, Stichmann received the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon and in 1997 the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class. Since 2007 he has been a holder of the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia .
