Wilhelm Adolf Bollmann

Wilhelm Adolf Bollmann (born September 23, 1905 in Olvenstedt ; † August 9, 1991 in Magdeburg ) was a German agricultural scientist.

Life

Bollmann, who came from a farming family based in Olvenstedt, first attended the monastery high school in Magdeburg. After he graduated from high school in 1924, he completed an agricultural training course. He studied at the Universities of Göttingen and Halle (Saale) . In 1927/28 he was an agricultural seleve in Marienburg (West Prussia) . In 1930 he completed his studies with a diploma from the University of Königsberg . The doctorate followed in 1932 .

He returned to the Magdeburg region in 1933 and became an appraiser for an insurance company against hail . In 1939 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht . He was taken prisoner of war from which he returned in 1946. Bollmann lived in Olvenstedt at Helmstedter Straße No. 2 and from 1947 worked in the field of plant protection in Saxony-Anhalt . In 1951 he took over the management of the municipal plant protection office of the city of Magdeburg.

In 1953 he became department head at VEB Fahlberg-List in Magdeburg-Südost. He worked at the biological institute of the chemical company, which also dealt with the research and production of agents for plant protection and pest control. His tasks included the practical testing of new developments. He became known to a specialist audience primarily in the area of ​​the further development of seed treatment with Falisan preparations. In particular, the introduction of the wet pickling process and the use of fumigant in warehouses are associated with his name. In 1973 he retired and lived at Dorfstrasse 1 in Magdeburg-Olvenstedt for at least the 1980s .
