Wilhelm Beckmann (politician)

Wilhelm Albert Beckmann (born January 2, 1865 in Aachen , † October 17, 1924 in Essen - Kray ) was a German landowner, local politician and honorary citizen of Kray.

Live and act

The son of a farmer married in 1893 in the Riddershof in Kray. Between 1898 and 1906 he was the community leader in Kray. At the time of the formation of the mayor's office in Kray-Leithe in 1906, he became an unpaid alderman . He held this office until his death in 1924. From 1909 he represented the community in the district council. From 1915 he was on the district committee of the Essen district . He was also a member of the supervisory board of the Süddeutsche Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft , from which the Essener Verkehrs-AG emerged , the Essen milk supply, the Emschergenossenschaft , the Ruhrsiedlungsverband and the Rheinischer Bauernverein. Beckmann was a member of the church council in the Catholic parish of Kray. He was also a member of the board of the Essen Center Party .

Beckmann was buried in the old Kray cemetery.

Awards

Wilhelm Beckmann was made a knight of the Papal New Year's Eve .

In recognition of his great service to the development of the Kray community , he was made an honorary citizen of the community on September 24, 1924 by resolution of the local council.

In Essen on April 24, 1974, Wilhelm-Beckmann-Strasse was named after him.
