Wilhelm Bleyer

Wilhelm Bleyer (born May 3, 1902 in Tollinggraben ; † August 21, 1979 in Leoben ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and metal worker. From 1945 to 1962 he was a member of the National Council .

Bleyer worked in agriculture until he was 17 and then became a blacksmith's assistant in the Tollinggraben mining industry. From 1921 he worked as a shifter at the ÖBB and in 1927 joined the Donawitz iron and steel works, where he worked as an unskilled worker, waltz and foreman. Bleyer became involved as a member of the Christian Workers 'Union from 1924 and was chairman of the Donawitz metal workers' union between 1935 and 1938. After the National Socialists came to power in 1938, he was arrested in Leoben for several weeks. Bleyer subsequently organized the resistance movement in the Donawitz area. After the Second World War he represented the ÖVP in the National Council between December 19, 1945 and December 14, 1962.
