Wilhelm Blum (politician, 1831)
Wilhelm Blum (born July 3, 1831 in Dorpat , † February 18, 1904 in Heidelberg ) was a German lawyer and member of the Reichstag .
Life
William Blum studied law and received his doctorate Dr. jur. He spent most of his life in his adopted home, Heidelberg, where he was active as a national liberal politician and promoter of welfare. From 1869 to 1882 and 1889 to 1892 he was a member of the second chamber of the Baden Estates Assembly : 1869 to 1870 for the 13th constituency (Heidelberg); 1871 to 1872 for the 48th electoral district (Heidelberg); 1873 to 1878 for the 53rd electoral district (Office Mosbach); 1879 to 1882 for the 52nd electoral district (offices of Eberbach and Buchen); 1889 to 1892 for the 48th electoral district (Heidelberg).
From 1871 to 1884 Blum represented the constituency of the Grand Duchy of Baden 13 (Heidelberg - Eberbach - Mosbach) in the German Reichstag .
In 1872 he married Anna Blum , b. Helwerth (1843-1917). A financially independent position allowed the childless couple to lead a middle-class lifestyle.
Honors
- In 1901 Wilhelm Blum was made an honorary citizen of the city of Heidelberg.
- A street in Heidelberg-Neuenheim bears the name of the honorary citizen.
