Wilhelm Buitkamp

Wilhelm Ferdinand Buitkamp (born August 8, 1900 in Lingen (Ems) ; † July 13, 1967 in Osnabrück ) was a German Reformed theologian and from 1953 to 1965 church president of the Evangelical Reformed Church in northwest Germany .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1918 at the Georgianum grammar school in Lingen, he studied theology in Halle an der Saale . In 1919 he joined the Halle Wingolf . He completed his vicariate in Osnabrück at the Bergkirche, where he was ordained on August 9, 1925. From 1926 to 1928 he was pastor in Manslagt (East Friesland), from 1928 to 1936 in Hoogstede- Arkel ( Grafschaft Bentheim ) and from 1936 to 1967 in Osnabrück. From 1953 to 1965 he was President of the General Synod and Church President of the Evangelical Reformed Regional Church . For many years he was a member of the Landeskirchentag and the examination committee.
