Wilhelm Donko

Wilhelm Maximilian Donko (born December 16, 1960 in Linz / Donau ) is an Austrian diplomat and author of specialist books on naval history.

Life

Wilhelm Donko grew up in Schärding . After studying history / geography at the University of Salzburg (Mag.phil. 1987) and postgraduate studies at the University of Tokyo (1988–1990), he joined the diplomatic service of the Republic of Austria in 1990. Subsequently he was stationed at the embassies in Algiers (1992), Moscow (1993–97) and Ankara (1997–2001), then Austrian ambassador in Seoul (2005–2009) and in Manila (2009–2013). In Vienna he worked for eight years in the Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2001–2005 and 2013–2017).

Donko has been the Austrian Ambassador in Oslo since August 2017 .
