Wilhelm Eckhardt

Wilhelm Eckhardt (born May 2, 1871 in Marburg , † October 29, 1934 in Witzenhausen ) was a German lawyer and notary, local politician, and regional and student historian from North Hesse.

Life

Wilhelm Eckhardt was the son of Adolf Eckhardt († 1903). He studied law at the University of Marburg and became a member of the Corps Teutonia Marburg in 1891 . After the legal traineeship exam (1893) and the assessor exam, he became a lawyer in Witzenhausen in 1898. In 1899 he was licensed as a lawyer notary. In 1907 he was elected to the board of directors of the Kassel Bar Association and appointed to the judiciary in 1917 . As a local politician, he was a member of the Witzenhausen city council from 1908 to 1933 and was its head from 1916 to 1919. Wilhelm Eckhardt was married to Minna Reccius from Wahlhausen in 1899; both had a son, the legal historian Karl August Eckhardt , and two daughters. He was particularly known as a North Hessian homeland researcher and student historian.
