Wilhelm Engelhard (politician)

Johann Wilhelm Jakob Engelhard (born December 31, 1803 in Mengeringhausen ; † January 24, 1867 there ) was a German lawyer and politician .

Engelhard was the son of the businessman and mayor Carl Georg Ludwig Engelhard and his wife Friederike Luise Wilhelmine nee Schreiber. He married Luise Severin on September 27, 1829 in Mengeringhausen. Engelhard studied law at the University of Göttingen from 1827 and was a lawyer from 1830. In 1837 he became city secretary in Mengeringhausen and in 1841 took over the provisional administration of the general state servant widow's fund. In 1850 he became district secretary in Arolsen. From 1849 to 1851 he was for the XI. Constituency MP in parliament of Waldeck-Pyrmont . From 1852 to 1859 he was again a member of parliament, now for the constituency of the Twiste district.
