Wilhelm Hinze ( 1813 in Braunschweig - September 26, 1876 in Schwerin ) was a German opera singer ( bass-baritone ), stage actor and violinist .

Life

Hinze was first a clerk at the ducal district court, but followed the advice of his friends, who drew his attention to his beautiful voice and stepped onto the stage for the first time as a "Seneschal" in Johann von Paris in Braunschweig.

In 1840 he joined the Schwerin court theater association , which he never left. He belonged to the same for more than 30 years, initially as the first baritone, later as the first bass and buffo, and until his last appearance he always brought all the roles assigned to him, including a whole series of acting roles, to the best advantage with youthful freshness.

His outstanding roles included "Plumkett" ( Martha ) , "Bartolo" ( The Barber of Seville ) , "Lysiart" ( Euryanthe ) , "Kaspar" ( Der Freischütz ) , "Sarastro" ( The Magic Flute ) , "Rocco" ( Fidelio ) and especially “Marcel” ( The Huguenots ) . In addition to being an artist as a singer (Hinze was a Mecklenburg-Schwerin chamber singer), he was also an artist on the violin.

Hinze died in Schwerin on September 26, 1876.

His son Paul Hinze (1847-1905) also became an opera singer (bass).
