Wilhelm Hollmann (singer)

Caspar Wilhelm Hollmann ( February 6, 1830 in Hamburg - April 16, 1879 in Dresden ) was a German singer and composer.

Life

Not much is known about Hollmann's life. He came from an old family of actors. He was born in Hamburg as the son of the actor Hollmann. He worked at the court theater in Dresden from 1857 to 1869 and died there in April 1879. He was also active as a composer. He was married to Pauline Wilhelmine Henriette Reiße. Eisenberg assumes that he is the father of the opera singer Marianne Friederike Cäcilie Zaengl , who is married to the theater actor Josef Zaengl . But that is not possible because he was born in 1830 and his alleged daughter was born in 1816. He confuses him with the actor at the Hamburg City Theater Wilhelm Hollmann. However, the information in the Almanac for Friends of Drama from 1842 is correct .
