Wilhelm Hurm

Johann Gustav Carl Wilhelm Hurm (born April 24, 1848 in Bremen ; † January 28, 1896 in Bremen) was a German doctor, art lover and member of the Bremen citizenship .

biography

Hurm was the son of a merchant. He graduated from the Alte Gymnasium in Bremen, studied medicine at the University of Tübingen , the University of Berlin and the University of Bonn and traveled to various European countries.

In 1877 he became a doctor and surgeon in Bremen with a practice at Mozartstrasse 1 and later at Wulwestrasse 9. In the 1880s he was elected a member of the Bremen citizenship. Since he was very interested in art and literature, he published a descriptive directory of the paintings and sculptures of the Kunstverein in Bremen in the Kunsthalle Bremen in 1892 . This first inventory catalog of the collection listed 172 paintings, 47 watercolors and 18 sculptures. He also compiled a preserved, unprinted directory of news about artists and art collectors together.

Since 1879 he was married to the bank director's daughter Carolina (Lina) Bernhardina Limpert.
