biography
Hurm was the son of a merchant. He graduated from the Alte Gymnasium in Bremen, studied medicine at the University of Tübingen , the University of Berlin and the University of Bonn and traveled to various European countries.
In 1877 he became a doctor and surgeon in Bremen with a practice at Mozartstrasse 1 and later at Wulwestrasse 9. In the 1880s he was elected a member of the Bremen citizenship. He also compiled a preserved, unprinted directory of news about artists and art collectors together.
