Wilhelm Jenamy

Wilhelm Jenamy (born April 7, 1726 in Vienna , † January 5, 1784 in Graz ) was an Austrian Jesuit . His younger brother Gervasius Jenamy (1730-1806) was also a Jesuit.

Life

Wilhelm Jenamy was born on April 7, 1726 in Vienna and entered the Jesuit order at the age of 16. Here he continued his studies and earned his philosophical and theological doctorate . He then taught the Greek language at the Jesuit orders of Graz and Leoben , before teaching rhetoric in Tyrnau , again in Graz ethics and then philosophy in Linz . From 1766 he returned to Graz as a teacher, where he worked as such until his death in 1784. Throughout his life he had published many works, some of them liturgical , and some of them ascetic, both in German and in Latin . Johann Nepomuk Stöger (1792-1880) recorded numerous of his works, of which only the Latin name, but no German ones, are known. Jenamy died on January 5th, 1784 at the age of 57 in Vienna; his younger brother survived him by more than 22 years.
