Wilhelm Jentges (born July 15, 1825 in Krefeld ; † June 16, 1884 ibid) was a Krefeld entrepreneur and local politician.

Life

Jentges was the son of the silk manufacturer Isaak Wilhelm Jentges (1796–1826) and his wife Anna, b. von Beckerath (1796–1873), who came from a family of manufacturers and bankers in Krefeld.

Jentges joined his father's company and continued to run it successfully. Furthermore he was for many years director of the municipal savings bank . He acquired real estate on the outskirts of the rapidly growing city, which his heirs later developed as Jentges' real estate into a residential area around the city forest, the Großhüttenpark, the Vreed and the Kaiserpark.

Jentges married Julia Luisa Josefina Schneider (1839–1908), with whom he had three daughters.

politics

From 1858 he was a city councilor in Krefeld and from 1878 to 1884 an unpaid councilor of the city. He was also a parliamentarian in the provincial state parliament and from 1883 until his death in 1884 in the Prussian mansion , each as a representative of the city of Krefeld.

Honors

The Jentgesallee in Krefeld is named after him.
