Wilhelm Kierdorf

Wilhelm Kierdorf (born January 25, 1938 in Cologne ) is a German classical philologist .

Wilhelm Kierdorf studied at the University of Cologne , where he did a thesis on the experience and representation of the Persian Wars. Studies on Simonides, Pindar, Aeschylus and the Attic speakers in 1963, during his studies he was a scholarship holder of the Cusanuswerk Episcopal Study Fund . In 1976 he completed his habilitation with the thesis Laudatio funebris. Interpretations and investigations into the development of the Roman funeral speech at the Ruhr University Bochum . In 1980 he became an adjunct professor of classical philology there and remained so until his retirement. Kierdorf obtained a text edition with an introduction, critical apparatus and commentary on the life of Claudius and Nero des Suetonius .
