Wilhelm Meyer (born December 19, 1932 in Berlin ) is a German geologist. He was a professor at the University of Bonn.

Meyer received his doctorate in geology from the Free University of Berlin in 1958 ( geology of the Siegen strata between Ahr and Nette (Eastern Eifel) ). He then worked as a practical geologist in iron spar mining in Siegerland . In 1959 he went to the Clausthal University of Technology (at that time the Bergakademie) and completed his habilitation there in 1966 on tectonics and granite plutonism in a crystalline area in northern Greece. Since 1969 he was Professor of Geology and Scientific Council at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn .

Meyer mainly deals with the geology of the Eifel , about which he wrote a standard work. He also dealt primarily with structural geology (connection between tectonics and volcanism).

He continues the revision of Hans Murawski's geological dictionary .
