Wilhelm Molthan (sculptor)

Wilhelm Molthan (also: Johann Wilhelm Ludolph Molthan ; * 1769 ; † 1824 ) was a court gilder and court sculptor from the Elector of Brunswick-Lüneburg .

life and work

Wilhelm Molthan was appointed court sculptor in 1787 or earlier after he had been appointed electoral court gilder. On August 14, 1805 his son Justus Heinrich Jakob Molthan was born in Hanover , who later became an architect; whose sister was to marry the sculptor August Hengst . During the so-called French era , Molthan created designs for the redesign of the box hall for the temple of the Masonic lodge "Zum Stillen Tempel" in Hildesheim .
