Wilhelm Oberle (born May 27, 1931 in Nordrach , Black Forest ; † February 6, 2018 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German pharmaceutical salesman and founder of the Wilhelm Oberle Foundation , a non-profit foundation that helps people in need.

Life

After completing his apprenticeship as a pharmacist, Oberle worked for the Frauengold company, among others . In 1961, he first moved to the pharmaceutical company Anton Hübner GmbH in Ehrenkirchen as sales manager , which he took over in 1968. By 1990, Oberle expanded the company, which he had taken over with 12 employees and a turnover of 200,000 euros, into a medium-sized company with 250 employees and an annual turnover of 25 million euros. In 1990 he sold the company, worked as a consultant for a few years, but then withdrew from the company entirely.

As early as 1988 he founded the Wilhelm Oberle Foundation in Staufen im Breisgau , which looks after people at home and abroad who have got into distress through no fault of their own. Together with the Caritas Association of the Archdiocese of Freiburg and the Diakonisches Werk Baden, the foundation established the “Debt Relief Fund Baden”. Oberle also worked as a management consultant . He lived in Nordrach.

Wilhelm Oberle was born in 1931 in Nordrach, Black Forest in the “Gäßle”, to poor parents. His meager childhood was shaped by the village life of that time and the war years. His school time was reduced to seven years due to the war-related shortage of teachers. Although usually best in class, the last years of the war prevented attending high school. After the end of the war, Oberle began a three-year commercial apprenticeship in Zell a. H. with accompanying attendance at the commercial school in Hausach. This was followed by twelve professional years as a businessman in Hornberg, Stuttgart, Frankfurt and Karlsruhe - in companies in various industries with a focus on marketing, soon in a managerial position.

In 1961 the step into professional independence came when I started working in a small company in the health sector in Ehrenkirchen near Freiburg - and took over it in full in 1967. Freiburg became the center of life for 40 years, a family founded with his wife Brigitte, from which three children emerged .

During these busy years, the company has grown from the smallest beginnings to a company with 250 employees and an annual turnover of 25 million euros. In addition, he has worked for the board of directors of the national industrial association VRH for 25 years, combined with supervisory board positions and honorary posts. Oberle was honorary chairman of the VRH association.

Finally, in 1988 the family decided to sell the company. The vast majority of the proceeds went to the non-profit foundation that was established at the same time as the company was sold.

The founder's inclination towards social commitment was also expressed in regional voluntary activities as the chairman of the parish council of two parishes, many years of board activity for an old people's and care facility and as the president of the ring of the physically handicapped in Freiburg, as well as a sponsor of associations and customs in his home parish in Nordrach. Numerous honors and the award of the Federal Cross of Merit were a form of recognition of his work.
