Wilhelm Riedner

Wilhelm Riedner (born November 4, 1877 in Kitzingen , † 1954 in Munich ) was a German librarian and historian.

Life

After graduating from secondary school in Nuremberg, Wilhelm Riedner studied modern philology, history and politics at the University of Munich . In 1900 he became a member of the Corps Palatia Munich . After completing your studies with a doctorate to become a Dr. phil. at the University of Munich in 1905 he began a career as a librarian and became library director of the Technical University of Munich. During the First World War he worked in the Political Department of the Governor General in Brussels. Riedner wrote numerous book history and historical publications.

Awards

  • For his award publication How can peace and prosperity for Germany and Europe be secured through international cooperation? he received the German Peace Prize in 1924.
  • The Corps Palatia Munich made him an honorary member.
