Wilhelm Schloz (mountaineer)

Wilhelm Schloz (born April 5, 1940 in Stuttgart ) is a German geologist and mountaineer.

Life

The son of the poet Wilhelm Schloz grew up in Stuttgart and studied geology. He received his doctorate from the University of Stuttgart in 1971. Schloz was a hydrogeologist with the state of Baden-Württemberg and lives in Esslingen am Neckar after his retirement .

From a young age, he was a mountaineer on several occasions in Karl Maria Herrligkoffer's expeditions .

Until January 2016, Schloz was deputy chairman of the DAV regional association of Baden-Württemberg . In 1983 the environmental working group of the Swabian section of the German Alpine Club was founded under his leadership . From 2008 to 2014 he was chairman of the Swabian section. In 2017, Schloz was awarded the Badge of Honor of the Baden-Württemberg State Nature Conservation Association.
