Wilhelm Schröder (photographer)
Wilhelm Schröder (* 1869 in Garwitz ; † 1947 ) was a German photographer .
Live and act
Wilhelm Schröder was born the son of a small farmer and lived in Grevesmühlen from 1906 , where he worked as a music teacher and musician.
Schröder was not a trained photographer, but a passionate and accomplished amateur photographer who used his photographic knowledge as an opportunity to earn additional income. From 1909 he moved across the country and showed his slide shows for a fee - embedded in lectures with musical accompaniment.
His pictures were forgotten for almost a hundred years. Between 2002 and 2014, several boxes with a total of 363 slides were discovered and acquired by the Mecklenburg Volkskundemuseum Schwerin-Mueß .
Despite the simplicity and tranquility of the motifs, Schröder's pictures show an authentic picture of life in Mecklenburg around 1900.
The projector he used is also still original.
