Wilhelm Schulze (born December 22, 1886 in Westerhüsen ; † October 11, 1971 in Schönebeck, Elbe ) was a German homeland researcher, co-founder of the Schönebeck district museum and local politician.

Life

Schulze attended the Barby teacher training college and began teaching in 1910 in Schönebeck. He later switched to middle school in Salzelmen , where he remained active until 1955 and held the position of rector .

However, he achieved particular importance through his work on the local history of the Schönebeck region. He published a large number of articles on this topic and gave numerous lectures. In 1919 he volunteered as the town archivist of Groß Salze . After Groß Salze (Bad Salzelmen) was incorporated into Schönebeck together with Frohse , Schulze continued to take on the position of archivist for the entire city of Schönebeck on a voluntary basis from 1932. In the same year he was involved in the design for the new Schönebeck city arms. Schulze also gave lectures on topics related to local history, including in his birthplace Westerhüsen. During the Second World War, Schulze arranged for the archives to be stored in the Schönebecker Salzschacht and, in 1950, organized the move of the city archive to the castle building of the Salzelmen castle courtyard, the former Schadeleben castle . From 1955 he was 50 percent full-time in the archive. In total, Schulze worked as an archivist for 50 years.

In 1924 Schulze was one of the founders of the Schönebeck District Museum. In 1945 he founded the Schönebeck CDU , which he represented as a member of the city council and district council. In addition, Schulze was a member of the District Church Council of the Evangelical Church District Schönebeck.

In 1997, a pupil of Schulze had a tombstone erected in the Schönebeck cemetery .
