Wilhelm Stahl (mathematician)

Wilhelm Stahl (born September 8, 1846 in Fränkisch Krumbach , † April 19, 1894 in Berlin ) was a German mathematician.

After the early death of the father, a pastor, the mother and son moved to Darmstadt . From 1864 to 1868 Wilhelm Stahl studied engineering at the Zurich Polytechnic , then went to the University of Gießen and from there to Berlin. In 1870 Stahl received his doctorate as a mathematician in Heidelberg .

In 1872 Stahl was appointed professor of synthetic and descriptive geometry at RWTH Aachen University. In 1892 he became professor for analytical geometry at the Technical University of Charlottenburg .

At the age of 47, Wilhelm Stahl suddenly died of a heart attack .

Stahl published a large number of scientific papers on his subject in the journal of the Association of German Engineers , in Crelles Journal and the Mathematische Annalen .
