William Albert "Will" Jääskeläinen (born July 25, 1998 in Bolton ) is a Finnish football goalkeeper who is under contract with the English third division club Crewe Alexandra . The son of the former goalkeeper Jussi has been used in several Finnish junior national teams.

Will Jääskeläinen's father Jussi is considered to be one of the best Finnish goalkeepers of all time. In his 26-year professional career, he played almost 700 league games, most of them in the jersey of the Bolton Wanderers , to which he switched in 1997. A year later, Will was born in Bolton , who did the same as his father and began his football training as a goalkeeper with the Bolton Wanderers. While his father rose to club legend and left the club in 2012, Will played for the various age groups of the juniors and was released at the end of the 2016/17 season, whereupon he signed a one-year contract with Crewe Alexandra .

Jääskeläinen did not spend the 2017/18 season with Crewe Alex, but as a loan player with the lower-class clubs Loughborough Dynamo , Nantwich Town , Buxton FC and Chester FC . In May 2018 he signed a new three-year contract with Crewe. Also in the following season he played in two independent loan shops for a total of five months at Nantwich Town. On April 19, 2019 (43rd match day), he made his debut for Crewe Alexandra in the fourth-highest English division in a 2-0 home win against Yeovil Town . He was also caught between the posts in the remaining three league games of the 2018/19 season.

In the next 2019/20 season , Jääskeläinen was already the team's regular goalkeeper. As runner-up in the table, he was promoted to EFL League One with Crewe . He was on the pitch 35 times in the league championship, which was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic . On June 16, 2020, he signed a new two-year contract.

National team

Will Jääskeläinen played two U17 friendly matches in June 2014 . Between January and June 2016, he played five international matches for the U18s . In March 2017 he was used in a U19 game . From June 2017 to November 2019 he made six international matches for the U21s .
