List of rose varieties

Will Scarlet is a rose variety discovered by Thomas Hilling (United Kingdom) in 1948. It is named after the character of the same name, Will Scarlet from the Robin Hood legend. The moschata hybrid is a direct descendant of one of the two main moschata strands. It is a sport of the 'Wilhelm' variety bred by Wilhelm Kordes in 1934 (also known as 'Skyrocket'), which was itself a direct descendant of 'Robin Hood' . Compared to 'Wilhelm', 'Will Scarlett' has slightly darker flowers.

The rose is very robust and healthy and reaches a height between 1.50 meters and 2.20 meters. If it is supported by fences or other scaffolding, it can reach a height of about 4 meters. Since the shrubs require little maintenance, they are often used in landscaping. 'Wilhelm' has bright red flowers of medium size that appear in batches throughout the summer season. The red of the flowers is contrasted by striking yellow stamens , the rose smells faint. In autumn it bears large numbers of striking red-orange rose hips. The long, thorny branches have glossy medium to dark green leaves.
