Sinan Bolat (born September 3, 1988 in Kayseri ) is a Belgian - Turkish football goalkeeper .

Club career

KRC Genk

Sinan Bolat, who immigrated to Belgium with his parents as a child , began his career at the age of 16 with the Belgian first division club KRC Genk , but made it only a few appearances.

Standard Liege

On December 29, 2008, he signed a four and a half year contract with Standard Liège . The transfer fee was 150,000 euros. In 2008/09 he was Belgian champion with his club. From the 2009/10 season, Bolat became a regular goalkeeper and won the Belgian Cup in the 2010/11 season.

FC Porto

In the summer of 2013 he moved to the Portuguese top club FC Porto .

Kayserispor (loan)

After he only made four appearances in the second team in the first half of the season and not once played for the professionals, he was loaned to the Turkish first division club Kayserispor , the club of his hometown Kayseri, for the second half of the 2013/14 season. Bolat made 14 appearances at Kayserispor. He returned to FC Porto on June 1, 2014.

More loans

For the 2014/15 season, Bolat was awarded to Galatasaray Istanbul . In the next season there was a loan to the Belgian first division club Club Bruges . Bolat only scored three games in early September 2015. After that, he was initially part of the squad of the respective match day, but was not used. From the turn of the year 2015/16 he was no longer included in the squad.

In the 2016/17 season there was another loan, this time to the Portuguese club Nacional Funchal , which this season played in the Primeira Liga , the top Portuguese league. Until the end of January 2017, he only played a cup game there. In the league he was not part of the matchday squad or was not used. At the end of January 2017, this loan was canceled and a new loan for the rest of the season to FC Arouca , who also played in the Primeira Liga this season . Here he played in 13 of the 15 remaining league games in the rest of the season, mostly for the full duration.

FC Antwerp

For the 2017/18 season, Bolat moved to the Belgian club Royal Antwerp . There he became the regular goalkeeper. After his contract expired at the end of the 2019/20 season, it was announced in mid-May 2020 that he could not have reached an agreement with the club on a contract extension. However, Antwerp had already signed a successor at this point. Bolat has been without a contract since summer 2020.

National team

He graduated from two games for the Turkish U-21 team and is in the squad of the senior team . His first international match was the friendly against Estonia on August 10, 2011, where Bolat was on the pitch throughout the game.

He was not part of the national team between May 2013 and September 2018, before returning to goal in the UEFA Nations League game against Sweden on September 10, 2018 . Since then he has played for the national team six times, most recently in the friendly against Ukraine on November 20, 2018. After that, he was again not appointed to the squad.

Others

On December 9, 2009, he became the first goalkeeper to score a goal in the Champions League from the game. With his header to make it 1-1 against AZ Alkmaar in the 5th minute of stoppage time, his club qualified for the UEFA Europa League .
