Willem Vorsterman

Willem Vorsterman († 1543) was a printer who was active in Antwerp between 1504 and 1543 .

Vorsterman printed and published around 400 books in Dutch, Spanish, English, Latin, French and Danish. After Michael Hillenius ( Michael von Hoogstraeten ) he is the second most productive book printer in the Netherlands in the first half of the 16th century. While his early prints (until 1520) were mainly fictional works in Dutch in the format of a folk book , he later ventured into other languages ​​and genres, with richly furnished and artistically illustrated editions. He joined the Guild of St. Luke in Antwerp in 1512 , which he also headed in 1527 and 1542. His workshop was in the “Golden Unicorn”, near the Kammerpoort in Antwerp.
