Pedersen studied in Greifswald in 1496 and can be traced back to 1505 as a canon in Lund . From 1516 he studied in Paris . From 1516 he lived mainly in Denmark at the court of Christian II. Together with the king he fled to the Netherlands and in 1529 joined the Lutheran doctrine. In 1532 we find Pedersen as a printer in Malmö .

With his work Pedersen laid the foundation for the development of the Danish written language. He supported the Danish Reformation with his translation of the New Testament from 1529 (revised 1531), which became the basis of the so-called Christian III Bible from 1550 (printed by Ludwig Dietz ), as well as with the printing of translations of Luther's writings and his own works .
