European Athletics Championships 1969 / participant (GDR)

The GDR's DVfL had nominated a total of 62 athletes, 37 men and 25 women , for the European Athletics Championships in Athens in 1969 . The nominees included five defending champions from Budapest and two Olympic champions from 1968 .

successes

The GDR team took first place in the medal evaluation with 11 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze medals. The women won a medal in 6 out of 14 competitions and the men in 13 of 18 competitions in which they competed. The most successful athlete was Petra Vogt, who was only 19 and won three titles. Furthermore, GDR athletes set six European championship records.

Medals and participants per club

The active participants were spread over 14 different competitive sports centers, of which only eight sports clubs were able to celebrate medal winners. The most successful sports club was the SC Chemie Halle, whose starter Petra Vogt won three titles alone.
