Gabriele Hinzmann
Gabriele Hinzmann , b. Trepschek (born May 31, 1947 in Schwerin ) is a former German athlete and Olympic medalist who was one of the world's best discus throwers in the 1970s, starting for the GDR . Her greatest achievement is the bronze medal at the 1976 Olympic Games.
In 1969, 1972, 1973 and 1974 she was GDR champion. Then began the era of Evelin Schlaak (later Evelin Jahl), who later became the most successful discus thrower in the world with two Olympic victories.
Gabriele Hinzmann started for the SC DHfK Leipzig until 1972 and trained with Karlheinz Bauersfeld . From 1973 she started for the ASK Vorwärts Potsdam and trained with Lothar Hillebrand . In her active days she was 1.78 m tall and weighed 80 kg. It was part of the Bauersfeld study in which the participating athletes were given Oral-Turinabol .
After her sports career, she became a teacher.
