Günter Schaumburg (born January 1, 1943 in Erfurt ) is a former German discus thrower who competed for the GDR .

At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City , he was tenth and at the European Athletics Championships in 1969 in Athens seventh.

He set his personal best of 62.68 m on July 21, 1968 in Halle (Saale) .

The athlete, who started for ASK Vorwärts Potsdam , initially studied journalism, but later worked as a sports teacher. After he got into a conflict with the East German authorities, he was demoted to street cleaner .
