Hans-Jürgen Bombach

Hans-Jürgen Bombach (born August 11, 1945 in Wehrsdorf ) is a German athlete who - starting for the GDR - was a successful sprinter from the late 1960s to the mid 1970s . His greatest success was the bronze medal in the 200-meter run at the European Championships in 1974 (20.83 s). He won another bronze medal at these European championships with the GDR's 4 x 100 meter relay (38.99 s; together with Manfred Kokot , Michael Droese and Siegfried Schenke ).

On July 20, 1973, he ran the 100 meters in 10.0 seconds in Dresden , setting the existing European record. One day later, on July 21, 1973, he set a GDR record in the 200-meter run in Dresden with 20.2 seconds.

Hans-Jürgen Bombach started for SC Dynamo Berlin . In his playing days he was 1.83 m tall and weighed 75 kg.
