Gertrud Schmidt

Gertrud Schmidt , married Lohse (from 1972) (born July 18, 1942 in Ozorkow , Wartheland ) is a German athlete and Olympic participant who - starting for the GDR - was successful as a 400-meter and 800-meter runner in the 1960s was. On October 4, 1969, she was involved in a world record in the 4 x 800 meter relay race in Cottbus (8: 33.0 min: Gertrud Schmidt, Waltraud Pöhland , Barbara Wieck ).

She set a GDR record in the 800-meter run with 2: 03.2 minutes on June 19, 1968 in Berlin (at the same time all-German best).

At the Olympic Games in 1964 , she finished seventh (55.4 s) in the 400-meter run. At the European Championships in 1969 , she was eliminated in the 800-meter run.

Gertrud Schmidt belonged to the SC Tractor Schwerin . In her competition time she was 1.63 m tall and 57 kg heavy.
