Willfried Lahrs

Willfried Lahrs (born February 28, 1913 in Hamburg-Altona ; † April 26, 2006 ) was a German gymnast and trainer.

Life and athletic career

As a child, Lahrs was a gymnast in the Eimsbütteler Turnverband . He started playing soccer at the age of 14 and started gymnastics again at the age of 16. He joined the Hamburg gymnastics association in 1816 and began his artistic gymnastics career here. In 1934 he was the first twelve-fight winner at the district gymnastics festival in Hamburg, in 1935 Gaufest winner in the twelve-battle at the Gauturnfest in Lübeck, in 1936 second and in 1937 first twelve-battle winner at the district gymnastics festival. He completed numerous city fights, club competitions and in the spring of 1938 completed two juggling fights between Nordmark and Niederrhein.

Lahrs was part of the German national team at times.

After the end of his playing days, he continued to work as a coach. One of the talents he supported here was Yvonne Musik .

Lahrs was an honorary member of the Hamburg gymnastics association from 1816. A trophy is named after him, which was created posthumously.

Honors

The German Gymnastics Federation awarded him the badge of honor and the letter of honor, he is the bearer of the badge of honor and the performance plaque of the German Olympic Society and holder of the ' Medal for loyal work in the service of the people ' of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg .
