Wilhelm Baues
Wilhelm "Willi" Bernd Baues (born November 21, 1948 in Mönchengladbach ) is a former German canoeist who competed in the canoe slalom for the Federal Republic of Germany.
Baues started for the KC Grevenbroich. Together with Hans-Otto Schumacher he became German champion in two-man canoes in 1970, 1972 and 1974 .
At the 1972 Olympic Games , Olympic canoe slalom competitions were held for the first time. On the Augsburger Eiskanal won Rolf-Dieter Amend and Walter Hofmann from the GDR before Schumacher and construction and the French brothers Olry.
In 1973 Schumacher / Baues took third place at the World Championships in Muotathal behind Jiri Krejza and Jaroslav Pollert from Czechoslovakia and Klaus Trummer and Jürgen Kretschmer from the GDR; Schumacher and Baues won the team competition together with Michael Reimann and Olaf Fricke as well as Karl-Heinz Scheffer and Jürgen Steinschulte before Czechoslovakia, the team from the GDR received the bronze medal.
For winning the silver medal in the two-man canoe slalom at the Olympic Games in Munich, he and his partner Schumacher received the silver laurel leaf on September 10, 1972.
