Willi Croll (politician)

Willi Croll (born December 2, 1924 in Calden ; † October 29, 2018 in Solingen ) was a German politician ( SPD ). From 1970 to 1976 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament .

biography

Willi Croll was a soldier after attending elementary school and state advanced school from 1940 to 1945, was wounded and retired from the army as a reserve officer. From 1945 to 1947 he worked in agriculture. Since January 1, 1948, he was employed by the Hessian Knappschaft in Kassel and passed the first and second administrative exams. He was also a union member since January 1, 1948.

Willi Croll was a member of the SPD and was chairman of the SPD local branch and the SPD sub-district Hofgeismar . Between November 1968 and September 1976 he was an honorary first councilor in Hofgeismar. From September 1976 to 1990 he was mayor of Hofgeismar.

From December 1, 1970 to September 6, 1976 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament and in 1974 a member of the 6th Federal Assembly . He was a member of the European Union .

Croll was an avid mountaineer until 2003. He climbed all four thousand meter peaks in Europe.

NSDAP membership

A study published by historian Hans-Peter Klausch on behalf of the Die Linke parliamentary group in the Hessian state parliament in 2011 made Willy Croll's membership in the NSDAP known. According to this study, he was accepted as a member of the NSDAP on September 1, 1942 under membership number 9.235.714. The study points out that Croll applied for membership at the age of 17 and was one of those who “can be seen as young victims of years of indoctrination, from which they broke free after the war at the latest”.
