Willi Döbler

Willi Döbler (born March 17, 1891 in Weißenfels ; † February 3, 1944 in Rostock ) was a German machine fitter and a victim of National Socialism.

Life

Nothing is known about Willi Döbler's childhood and youth. He lived in Ribnitz , was a member of the SPD and in 1932/33 headed the workers' choir there. From 1937 he worked as a machine fitter at the Neptun shipyard . Here he acted against the policies of the National Socialists. In 1938 he was arrested for the first time and sentenced to six months in prison. On June 21, 1943, Willi Döbler was sentenced to one year and six months in prison by a special court in Rostock “for insidious remarks”. During his imprisonment he was so badly mistreated that he died of the consequences in the spring of 1944 in the mental hospital in Gehlsdorf .

In 1978 a street in the Rostock district of Groß Klein was named after Willi Döbler.
