Wilhelm Heinrich Dargaschewski (born May 15, 1921 in Gelsenkirchen ; † May 22, 2005 , ibid) was a German football player .

Career

“Heia” Dargaschewski, his nickname, played for FC Schalke 04 from 1939 to 1952 . At the age of 18, the unskilled worker was deployed in the first team in the Gauliga . He scored his first goal for Royal Blue on February 4, 1940 in a 7-0 victory for the Knappen at Borussia Dortmund . From October 1940 to October 1942 he did military service, was wounded several times and finally dismissed as incapacitated. Since 1943, the left runner has been one of the regular players in the Schalke team. He was part of the team that lost 6-2 in the semifinals of the 1943 cup against the eventual cup winners Vienna Wien .

Even after the war, Dargaschewski was a regular in the Schalke team. With the club he moved to friendly games across the country, the so-called " potato games ", for which the players were rewarded in kind. “Football was our great passion in the post-war period. The games were always very friendly and almost familiar, ”he later recalled. In the British Zone Championship in 1947 he was in the preliminary round games in the formation that was eliminated not least because of an own goal Dargaschewski against Hamburger SV . In 1951 he was in 29 of 30 matches in the Oberliga West on the field and was West German champions with Schalke. In the final round of the German championship , he was used in all games and scored the goal to win at FC St. Pauli on June 3, 1951 . Dargaschewski made his last game for the Blues on June 2, 1952, also in the championship finals ; Schalke lost this encounter against 1. FC Saarbrücken 2-4. In May 2005 Dargaschewski died at the age of 84 in his hometown of Gelsenkirchen.
