Willi Klemm

Otto Ferdinand Wilhelm "Willi" Klemm (born March 9, 1892 in Aken ; † July 2, 1934 Berlin-Lichterfelde ) was a German SA leader. He became known as one of the victims of the so-called Röhm Putsch .

Live and act

Klemm was a son of Ottomar William Klemm and his wife Pauline Selma Pfeffer. After the First World War , Klemm belonged to the Freikorps Rossbach . On September 22, 1926, he joined the NSDAP for the first time ( membership number 44,660), which he left on April 30, 1927. In the same year he married in Breslau. On May 1, 1932, he rejoined the NSDAP. In addition, he became a member of the Sturmabteilung (SA), in which he took over management tasks in the SA Upper Group Silesia led by Edmund Heines . According to his NSDAP index card, Klemm was earning his living as a businessman at the time.

From September 15, 1932 to February 28, 1933, as Standartenführer, Klemm was entrusted with the management of the Gausturmführer Silesia. After the official appointment as leader of the Gausturm with effect from March 1, 1933, he led this until May 31, 1934. On November 13, 1933, Klemm was also appointed motor vehicle inspector of SA-Obergruppe II, which he held until June 30, 1934 led. Also from November 13, 1933, he also acted, in parallel to his offices as group staff leader and as motor vehicle inspector of SA-Obergruppe II, as motor vehicle inspector of Obergruppe III, which he remained until March 14, 1934. During his time in Heines' staff, Klemm was promoted to the rank of SA Oberführer on March 1, 1933, and to the rank of SA Brigade Leader (Major General) on January 15, 1934.

On June 30 or July 1, 1934, Klemm was arrested in the course of the Röhm affair . On July 1, he was brought by plane to Berlin-Tempelhof , where he was taken over by an SS command led by Kurt Gildisch and taken to the Secret State Police Office . Later on the same day, at Walter's instigation, Gildisch brought Klemm to the SS-Kadettenanstalt Lichterfelde , where he was shot on July 2nd by an SS commando.
