Wilhelm Liwanec

Willi Liwanec (born January 28, 1915 in Vienna ; † June 16, 1968 there ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and central secretary. From 1954 to 1966 he was a member of the Vienna State Parliament and City Council and from 1966 to 1968 a member of the Austrian National Council .

Liwanec attended a secondary school after elementary school and then worked in the family business. He then became district secretary of the SPÖ and was then employed as the secretary of the club of socialist municipal councils in Vienna. Liwanec was politically active first as a district councilor, then from December 17, 1954 to March 30, 1966, he was a member or deputy of the Vienna state parliament and municipal council . He was also the central secretary of the SPÖ and was active in the cultural field such as the Wiener Festwochen and the Konzerthausgesellschaft. He also represented the SPÖ from March 30, 1966 until his death in the National Council.

After his death, Liwanec was buried in the Meidlinger cemetery . The Willi-Liwanec-Hof, a community building on Minciostraße in the 15th district of Vienna , is named after him.
