Willi Nickenig

Willi Nickenig (born April 28, 1944 in Boppard ) is a former German winemaker and politician ( CDU ).

Life

Nickenig attended the Boppard elementary school, the Boppard vocational school and the Bacharach viticulture school. He did a winemaking apprenticeship and practical training in his parents' business. In 1964 he passed the vintner assistant examination, in 1969 the vintner master examination and from 1973 was co-owner and from 1976 owner of his parents' winery. From 1989 to 2009 he worked at the Ministry of Economy, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture.

In 1962 Nickenig joined the CDU and the Junge Union. He was deputy chairman of the CDU local association Boppard and board member of the CDU city association Boppard. From 1969 to 2004 he was a member of the Rhein-Hunsrück district council, from 1970 to 1974 a member of the Boppard municipal council and from 1974 to 1976 a member of the Boppard city council. He was a member of the Boppard local council from 1976–1989, where he had been parliamentary group chairman since 1977 and from 1989–1997 a member and chairman of the Boppard town council.

On January 1, 1987, he replaced Walter Mallmann in the tenth Landtag of Rhineland-Palatinate, to which he was a member until the end of the electoral term. In the state parliament he was a member of the committee for agriculture, viticulture and forestry and the petitions committee.

He was awarded the Silver Badge of Honor of the Rhineland-Nassau Farmers and Winegrowers Association (1988), the Dr. Johann Christian Eberle Medal (1989), the Freiherr vom Stein plaque (1994) and the Rhineland Badge of Honor -Pfalz excellent.
